Professional Embedded Hardware/Firmware Prototyping Services

Eyebotix, LLC provides Embedded Systems Services in the Consumer and Industrial Hardware Domain. Eyebotix was founded by Joshua Karch whose diverse experience spans the gamut from UAVs to industrial test equipment to IoT and wearables that connect to the metaverse.

Joshua Karch specializes in taking prototype concepts and rapidly developing a hardware solution to make ideas a reality.  From there, he can help you realize the design further through his extensive network of industrial and consulting partners. Have an IOT device you’ve cobbled together with breadboard and wires? Ready to go to the next level?

Engineering Services

Embedded Systems Conceptual Design, Schematic Capture, Layout with Altium Designer, Fabrication Management, Board Checkout, Rework Services, Firmware Development, Hardware Debugging.

Prototyper at heart, Space Hardened

Josh started as a tinkerer when he was young, but forged those skills in the Aerospace, Alternative Energy, and Space Industry, working at companies such as Amazon, Boeing Aurora Flight Sciences and Blue Origin.

Flying Passions

Josh is an Instrument-Rated Private Pilot with almost two-thousands of hours of experience.  He applies the rigor of flight to his prototyping passions.

Aerial Photography

As a side passion, Joshua Karch flies his trusty Mooney 201 and photographs aerial landscapes, which he posts on https://www.soaringphotos.com

With Eyebotix, you can take that prototype to the next level and launch your venture.

Projects and Capabilities

Magic Eye
Lab

Developed an Embedded-Linux based Wind Turbine Active Load Controller and an array of CAN-based pressure sensors and airflow disturbance actuators.  This system used Xenomai to perform real-time sampling of sensor data to which a control system commanded the deployment of actuators that moderated the lift on wind turbine blades, lowering the blade loading and enabling longer blade life.

Developed a full-stack embedded IMU with Bluetooth LE and an iPad app to communicate with and mirror device orientations using AR.

Using an STM32 Microcontroller, a vacuum sensor, vacuum pump, and solenoid valve I developed a vacuum chamber controller that can maintain a vacuum within a relative negative pressure band.  I wrote the code using FreeRTOS with the CMSIS V2 Skin.

engine overhaul

As part of a complete four-month long aircraft engine replacement process, worked under my mechanic’s supervision to replace my aircraft’s engine and install new harnessing and engine monitor. This involved a large variety of tasks, from parts procurement and delivery planning to the removal of old hardware, cleaning, painting, harnessing, routing, installation, and break-in.

IMU PCB

Multilayer PCB developed for Real-Time Brushless DC Motor Controls with a safety-critical dual-core lockstep ARM Cortex R5 MCU. Developed with both Altium(R) Designer and OrCAD PCB Designer(R) Professional.

IoT board(pinky shown as example) with INS, boost converter, battery charging interface, FTDI, and QWIIC support, created with Altium.
